Venezuela and Turkey Sign Bilateral Agreements

President Nicolas Maduro, along with his counterpart from the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signed a series of agreements on economy, tourism, security and agriculture, within the framework of the Second Venezuela-Turkey Cooperation Joint Commission.

From the Presidential Palace in Ankara, Turkey, and following a bilateral meeting between the two countries, a trade and economic cooperation agreement was signed, first signed by the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Ramón Lobo and Nihat Zeybekci; secondly, the Tourism Cooperation Program, between the Ministry of People’s Power for Tourism of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Ministry of Tourism of Turkey, for the 2017-2019 period, where those responsible for stamping their Venezuela were the Minister of People’s Power for Tourism, Marleny Contreras, signed by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza and by Turkey’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Numan Kurtulmus.

In the field of security, a cooperation agreement was taken for the purpose of cooperating with the parties in preventing and combating transnational organized crime, terrorism and illicit drug trafficking and their chemical precursors, in accordance with their national legislation and its international obligations; signed by Venezuela, the Minister for People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, and by the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Fourthly, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding on agriculture, through which the parties will take appropriate measures within their respective laws and regulations of their countries with the purpose of promoting an attractive environment for the development of production with a view to establishing a mechanism to expand and diversify trade and economic cooperation between countries, signed by the Minister of People’s Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo and Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey, Ahmet Eşref Fakibaba

Likewise, was sealed an agreement on air services and an memorandum of understanding on air matters.

These two documents were signed by the Deputy Minister of Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Ramón Gordils and the Director General of Civilian Aviation of Turkey, Bahri Keisici.
