Government hopes to defeat smuggling and corruption with CLAP

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, is confident on that through the Local Committees of Supply and Production (CLAP) will be defeated in Venezuela corruption and ‘parasistism’ in food distribution.
During the broadcast of his program “Contacto con Maduro” (Contact with Maduro), the Head of State said that in order to restructure the ways to bring food to citizens, this new mechanism should occupy all spaces and at the same time, should link Mercal, Pdval, Abastos Bicentenario and private establishments.
“This is a strategy to build from the ground up, from the local, new systems of distribution that would break all the mechanisms of “bachaqueo” (small smuggling and reselling), corruption and theft to the people,” he said.
But the President insisted that this mechanism must be vaccinated against all forms of corruption. He urged grassroots organizations to join the process of food distribution.
