Maduro: Venezuela is an independent country and will not accept threats from any empire

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said on Monday that the threat of a military intervention by the United States against Venezuela is due to their “despair” at the defeat that gave the Venezuelan people to their internal forces in the country last July 30, with the installation of the National Constituent Assembly.

“Do you know why (Trump) has made the biggest mistake ever committed against a Latin American country in 200 years of relations? Because the empire is in despair for the defeat the people gave to its internal forces in Venezuela on July 30; For this reason, they have decided to come out themselves to try to confront the Bolivarian Revolution”, said the National President during an anti-imperialist mobilization held in Miraflores, downtown Caracas.

The National President warned the Venezuelan people that it is important to know the reasons for an attack, in order to determine the actions in defense of the country, its territorial integrity and the Bolivarian Revolution.

He warned US President Donald Trump that Venezuela is a country of peace, an independent and sovereign one, that does not accept threats from any empire.

“The people of Venezuela cannot be threatened, Mr. Donald Trump. Venezuela is a country of peace, dignity, integrity, morality and history”, he said.

He also denounced that in the United States is growing a new fascist current, which threatens the peoples of Latin America and the World.

“In the United States a stream of white supremacists has emerged. Behind the uprising of the white supremacists is the hidden power of the Ku Klux Klan and the extremists who attack Venezuela and the world’s emigrants, who hate and despise the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean”, he emphasized.

In that regard, he thanked the peoples of the world who expressed their solidarity with Venezuela and its rejection of the United States’ pretensions to militarily intervene in the country.
