TSJ Plenary Chamber admitted application of preliminary hearing for merits against Attorney General


The Plenary Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, presided over by Judge Maikel Moreno, admitted, as it had in law, the petition of a preliminary hearing for merits filed by the deputy to the National Assembly, Pedro Carreño, against the Attorney General of the Republic, Luisa Ortega Díaz, for the alleged commission of serious misconduct in the exercise of her post.

The sentence of the Plenary Chamber, with a presentation by Judge Marjorie Calderón Guerrero, president of the Chamber of Social Cassation, explains that this decision was taken in accordance with article 279 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in In accordance with clauses 4, 5, 8 and 9 of article 22 of the Organic Law of Citizen Power, and 23 paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Organic Law of the Public Ministry.

It was agreed to convene a public hearing, as well as to notify Luisa Ortega Díaz, Pedro Carreño and the members of the Republican Moral Council so that they appear before the Plenary Chamber of the High Court and state whatever they consider pertinent. With regard to the other measures requested by the Parliamentarian, these are under study.

The judicial body informed through its Twitter account that the Plenary Chamber remains in permanent session in order to discuss the other measures requested by Deputy Pedro Carreño against the Attorney General of the Republic.
