President Maduro held a meeting with companions of national dialogue in Miraflores


The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a meeting at Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, with the Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Ernesto Samper.

The meeting was also attended by the former President of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, former President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernández and the former President of Panama, Martín Torrijos, as well as the Apostolic Nuncio, in order to renew the dialogue between the opposition and the National Government.

By part of the Bolivarian government, it was attended by Jorge Rodriguez, Elías Jaua and the Vice-President of the Republic, Tareck El Aissammi.

At the end of this meeting, UNASUR’s Secretary General, Ernesto Samper, made a statement, saying that this Friday he hopes to hold a meeting with the opposition representatives.

For his part, the Mayor of Caracas, Jorge Rodríguez, said that “the only way is a constructive and fruitful dialogue, all Venezuelans and Venezuelans must be thankful that, from this initiative, the peace of the Republic has been guaranteed, above all when those fateful voices calling for violence were defeated”.

He informed that in this meeting they received “a proposal of way for these days, the possibility of a paper of work that must be considered. President Nicolás Maduro enthusiastically pointed out that, of course, we insist and we remain within the process of dialogue. ”

He added that this working paper presented by the representative of His Holiness, as well as by the express and accompanying dialogue, will be studied. “We hope that regardless of the tremendous difficulties that exist within the leadership of the Venezuelan opposition, they will also attend.”
