Socialist model threatens interests of media corporations

Venezuela is one of the countries that has signed and ratified more international conventions and treaties on Human Rights, and even its social policies have been acknowledged in instances such as the FAOV, ECLAC and UNDP. However, the communication transnational companies insist on attacking the Bolivarian Revolution.
The Vice Minister for international communications, William Castillo, said that this behavior is due to the threat posed by the new Venezuelan model on Human Rights against the interests of these large media corporations.
“Venezuela is proposing an alternative model in the area of Human Rights, which does not cede the defense of these rights to private non-governmental organizations, but rather delivers to the people their rights so that it is (in the case of communication) the promoter and defender of their rights and achievements”, he said.
During a meeting with students of the University of Panama, Castillo said that Venezuela is constantly attacked in various international instances with the aim of “disqualifying a process of democratization and a communication revolution such the one in Venezuela.”
He maintained that this kind of events allows to fight the media scoundrel, spreading the truth of Venezuela to the peoples of the world.
