Jorge Rodriguez: Our search is for peace, reconciliation, dialogue and forgiveness


Since January of this year 2016, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, called for a national dialogue to ensure peace and democratic stability, without pacts nor blackmail, and always with respect to the Constitution, said on Monday the leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Jorge Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said on Monday that: “Our search is for peace, reconciliation, dialogue and forgiveness”. For his part, the Vatican representative, Emir Paul Tscherrig, announced that on October 30 will take place on Margarita island, in Nueva Esparta state, an exploratory meeting to set an agenda for dialogue between the Government and opposition sectors, in order to consolidate peace in the country.
The envoy of the Holy See participated in a meeting held at the Melia Caracas Hotel, sponsored by the Union of South American Nations and attended by the former Presidents of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero; of Panama, Martin Torrijos; and of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez, accompanying dialogue in Venezuela along with representatives of the National Government, Deputy Elias Jaua; the Mayor of Caracas, Jorge Rodriguez, and the former Ambassador of Venezuela to the Organization of American States (OAS), Roy Chaderton.
By the opposition was attended the secretary general of the self-styled Democratic Unity Board (MUD), Jesus “Chuo” Torrealba.
“We thank the former Presidents Leonel Fernandez, Martin Torrijos, José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, and Ernesto Samper, from Unasur, for the accompaniment in this dialogue process that now comes true, but that was preceded by a number of proposals, and exploratory meetings , which have come to this day of today, “said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez thanked to the “special envoy of Pope Francis to commit support in the process of dialogue with opposition sectors with the Bolivarian Government”.
Meanwhile, Jesus Torrealba emphasized the importance for the conservative alliance he represents to initiate a process of dialogue with the National Executive. “Dialogue must mean an instrument for all Venezuelans, a space of struggle for a better country for everyone. That is dialogue. “
