IPU Secretary General received the keys to Caracas

The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Martin Chungong, received on Thursday the keys to the city of Caracas, from the Mayor of the Libertador municipality, Jorge Rodriguez.
The diplomat’s visit to the country was motivated to commemorate 62 years of the birth of the Commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias.
“I think many people can be inspired by the history of Venezuela, in (Simon) Bolivar and (Hugo) Chavez, and thereby build a better world”, said Chungong from Caracas, in a broadcast by VTV.
He also highlighted the pacifist character of the revolutionary people in Venezuela. “Without peace we might not have the welfare of the people. We always support all efforts that are being made regarding peace in Venezuela and around the world”, he said.
In this sense, mayor Rodriguez highlighted how the revolutionary people has defended the achievements conquered in matters of social rights, for the past 17 years with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, led by Chavez.
“We are a people of peace who has fought for true independence, for the preservation and respect for our laws and our Constitution, for democracy. But mainly we are a people of peace and, despite the difficulties, we have made efforts to keep ourselves in peace and continue to grow in the terms of the Bolivarian Revolution, “he said.
