President Nicolas Maduro reiterated on Thursday that dialogue is vital to strengthen and defend the national sovereignty, and thereby ensure peace and stability.
«It will open the way for what has to be consolidated: the process of a political dialogue on key issues of the Venezuelans, in order to strengthen the sovereignty and defend peace in the country which is the most important thing», he said, after a meeting with the Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), Ernesto Samper.
For his part, Samper said «We have found acceptance in the parties for these tasks to be accompanied by the Vatican», he said from the outskirts of Miraflores Palace in Caracas.
Thus was affirmed after holding a meeting where also participated the former Presidents: José Rodriguez Zapatero from Spain; Martin Torrijos from Panama, and Leonel Fernandez from the Dominican Republic. on which is aimed to seek peace for the country.
The first meetings to explore the start of a national dialogue between the Government and representatives of the opposition political parties were held in late May in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.
