President Maduro presents report of workers’ assemblies leading to the constituent congress

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, led the presentation of the report of the grassroots assemblies leading up to the Constituent Congress of the Working Class, emphasizing the protagonist role of workers in national development.

During the event, the President characterized the process as a «true workers’ revolution» that consolidates the participatory essence of the Bolivarian model:

«The working class is what creates the wealth of the country. You must be aware, comrades, of the power that each of you possess,» affirmed the Head of State during his address.

The call to class consciousness was framed within the need to achieve absolute independence in all areas through national production.

He also instructed the systematization of the organizational process of the Venezuelan working class, with the objective of consolidating political, military, and organizational power.

This coordination would strengthen the capacity for action and national leadership of the labor movement in building the national production model.

He also proposed a profound re-engineering process so that the working class occupies the position of power that corresponds to it in the national economy, culture, society, and politics.

The constituent process seeks to «build a program for the future from the working class» that integrates political, organizational, and military power.

As part of the organizational structure, four strategic axes were defined: a Productive Plan to consolidate the 13 economic engines, a New Trade Union Organization, the Integral Defense of the Homeland, and an International Commission to coordinate with the Latin American working class.

These components will form the agenda of the next congress.

Likewise, he tasked Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez with creating a Commission for the Integral Economic Development linked to the 13 Engines of the Working Class.

This body will have as its main objective to boost the workers’ productive sector within the framework of the constituent congress.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of workers nationwide to the refounding of the Venezuelan Labor Movement.

The constituent process represents a milestone in the reconfiguration of the organized people’s power as a pillar of sovereign economic development.
