On the World Science Day for Peace and Development, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the fundamental role of national science for the progress of the country. Through his channel on Telegram, the president celebrated the excellence of the Venezuelan scientific community and its historical legacy.
The head of state recognized the contributions of emblematic figures such as Saint José Gregorio Hernández, Humberto Fernández-Morán, and Jacinto Convit, whose work has left an indelible mark on national science. He emphasized that their legacy inspires new generations of Venezuelan researchers.
Maduro stressed that the excellence and commitment of the scientific community are flourishing today in a new generation trained in the country. He highlighted the role of the Great Mission Science, Technology, and Innovation «Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán” in the sowing of “a new era of knowledge in the national soul.”
The president emphasized that the fundamental purpose of science in Venezuela is oriented toward life, integral development, and peace: “Not to build weapons or bomb anyone,” he affirmed, establishing a clear difference with other models of scientific development internationally.
The president also acknowledged the love and dedication with which is being developed applied science in the country, especially driven by the children and young people of the Scientific Seedbed. He described these young talents as “geniuses of independent science and Venezuelan knowledge.”
In his closing remarks, the head of state affirmed that science, education, and innovation are fundamental drivers for Venezuela’s development. He underscored that these areas represent the guarantee that knowledge will open the doors to the nation’s future prosperity.
