National Congress of the working class will be held from December 14 to 16

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the making of the National Congress of the Working Class, which will take place from December 14 to 16. This important event will coincide with the commemoration of the anniversary of the Venezuelan Magna Carta.

The announcement was made during the swearing-in of the Promoting Commission for the Workers’ Constituent Assembly, where the head of state detailed the four main tasks that will guide the congress’ debate. These lines of work seek to strengthen the organization and productive capacity of Venezuelan workers.

The first task is to develop a Productive Plan to consolidate the 13 economy engines model. The fundamental objective is to achieve 100% import substitution in the country, thus strengthening national productive sovereignty.

The second task is the creation of a New Organization adapted to the changing times. This structure will seek to effectively address the rights of all workers in all economic sectors of the country.

The third task focuses on the integral defense of the homeland by strengthening active combat corps. This measure seeks to guarantee the defense of the national territory and consolidate peace as the supreme good of the nation.

Finally, an International Commission will be formed to prepare a Latin American and Caribbean Congress. This initiative aims to strengthen ties with the foreign working class that supports Venezuela, in a step that President Maduro described as «a giant step for the Socialist Revolution of the 21st century.»
