On his “Con Maduro+” program, President Nicolás Maduro stated that more than 90% of the Venezuelan population rejects the aggressions by the United States (US) government. This statement was made during the «Zona Digital”(Digital Zone) segment with journalist Luis Guillermo García.
The Venezuelan president based these figures on reports from national and international polling firms such as Data Viva and Hinterlaces. These figures demonstrate that US threats have generated a broad national consensus around the defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and peace.
The president explained that this consensus exceeds 90 percent of the population. He also asserted that these actions have reduced support for the opposition, which he described as «financed by the US government,» down to a 6%.
He stated that disapproval of the US government has reached 93%. He also highlighted that support for his administration has exceeded 61%, which represents the highest level of support since he became president.
He also asserted that the revolutionary government enjoys a greater international support. He mentioned the support of social movements, human rights organizations, and governments in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Faced with the current situation, the head of state urged his party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), to act with poise, serenity, and firmness. He described the international narrative about Venezuela as «extravagant» and «false,» reiterating that it is not credible.
The president expressed his conviction that the people of the region and the US do not want war. He expressed confidence that the groups that were promoting it have been exposed, exposing them «naked» before the public.
President Maduro concluded by reaffirming Venezuela’s right to freedom and sovereignty. He called for trust, stating that with truth and courage, the country will be prepared for any future scenario.
