President Nicolás Maduro denounced this Tuesday the United States government for constructing a false narrative and a clumsy and ridiculous hoax against Venezuela. During the inauguration of the National Council for the Defense of Sovereignty and Peace, he stated that these imperial operations are not credible to the world, much less to the Venezuelan people.
The head of state described the attacks as a media campaign full of outright lies and biased headlines. He warned that the objective of this strategy is to undermine the freedom of opinion and action enjoyed by all citizens of the Bolivarian Republic, framing it within an alleged «fight against drug trafficking.»
The president pointed out that the imperial narrative specifically directed its attacks against him and his «brothers in struggle.» In front of an audience that included private businessmen and opposition leaders, the president defended himself against accusations of illicit enrichment, asserting that he never used his position to obtain privileges or fortunes:
«With all my due respect, but I have never had, nor do I have, nor do I want to have, nor do I seek or use the presidency for any kind of privilege,» he stated forcefully, distancing himself from the image of multimillionaire leaders. He condemned the fact that the central idea of this false narrative is to make people believe that his purpose is personal and to obtain wealth.
The Venezuelan president asserted that the country’s current situation is the result of an operation promoted by the US and subordinate governments. He emphasized that imperial arrogance is the motor behind the lies that are being repeated daily with the intention of transforming them into an apparent truth.
Finally, he reiterated that the ultimate strategic objective of this operation is to seize Venezuela’s vast natural resources. To achieve this, he denounced the desire to achieve regime change, impose a puppet government, and carry out systematic destabilization with international ramifications.
