Venezuelan President: US violates international law and threatens to impose itself

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the United States of ignoring global norms and acting with threats to maintain its dominance. During his speech at the 13th Extraordinary Summit of ALBA-TCP, he stated that «the empire destroys international legality, violates the UN Charter and International Law, and imposes its actions through force.»

Maduro noted that the decline of the United States has led it to pursue an aggressive policy to establish hegemony in the commercial, economic, political, media, and military spheres of global geopolitics. He also denounced the US for pressuring the International Criminal Court, weakening UNESCO, and undermining the international legal order, which expressly prohibits the use of force against other nations.

Faced with this situation, he reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to peace, life, and unity. «We move forward with the truth, supported by the civil-military union and our Constitution, in line with UN resolutions,» he declared.

Maduro also assured that his country will resist any attempt at foreign domination: «They want to subjugate us illegally, but they will not be able to colonize us. America will rise, and although we prefer peace, we are prepared to defend our sovereignty with revolutionary firmness.»
