The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed that the rescue operation for Venezuelan children separated from their parents in the United States will continue during August. The announcement was made on the “Con Maduro+”program, where the president explained that the goal is to reunite the minors with their families in Venezuelan territory.
According to Maduro, these children were separated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and sent to foster homes. The process began in July and is part of the Venezuelan government’s efforts to protect the rights of its citizens abroad.
In the same broadcast, the president reported on the return of 252 Venezuelans from El Salvador, who were in detention centers. Maduro hailed this action as a great victory and accused the Salvadoran government of holding them in inhumane conditions.
The president criticized the immigration policies of the United States and El Salvador, asserting that his government will continue to denounce alleged human rights violations against Venezuelan migrants. He also compared Salvadoran detention centers to concentration camps, blaming President Nayib Bukele.
He also referred to the recent local elections in Venezuela, emphasizing that they were conducted normally and reflected democratic participation. However, his statements contrast with criticism from international observers regarding a lack of transparency.
The Venezuelan president accused social media of protecting the actions of the Salvadoran government, which he qualified as a «Nazi spoiled child.» He claimed that Bukele has committed «crimes against humanity,» although he did not provide concrete evidence.
While the rescue operation for the children continues, the Venezuelan government maintains its stance of international condemnation. Maduro assured that he will continue working to repatriate more citizens and reunite families affected by the immigration policies of other countries.
