Vice President Delcy Rodríguez promotes energy agenda at OPEC forum in Austria

The Minister of People’s Power for Hydrocarbons and Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, arrived this Tuesday in Vienna, Austria, to participate in the 9th OPEC International Seminar, a key event for the global energy industry that will take place on July 9 and 10.

Rodriguez was welcomed at the Vienna International Airport by OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, along with the Venezuelan Ambassador to Austria, Claudia Salerno, and other authorities. This gesture reflects Venezuela’s importance within the oil organization.

In a message posted on her account on Telegram regarding this participation, Rodríguez stated that the objective is to confront, from the unity, the current and future challenges facing the energy market and its impact on the international economy:

«Venezuela, within the framework of OPEC and OPEC+, will keep promoting joint mechanisms that guarantee the required balance in the use of hydrocarbons within its sovereign policies, and in attention to the development of the peoples, especially in challenging times for humanity.»

It is expected for the senior official to deliver a message from the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and share Venezuela’s experience in the oil sector, highlighting its role as one of the leading countries with crude oil reserves at a global level.

The OPEC seminar is considered one of the most important events in the energy industry, where strategic topics such as market stability, energy transition, and production policies are discussed. Venezuela’s participation strengthens its influence in key decisions in the sector.

This meeting brings together ministers, executives, and experts from member and allied countries, establishing as a space to strengthen alliances and to analyze the future challenges of oil in a context of global change.
