This Saturday, more than 47,000 communities spread across 335 municipalities across the country are participating in the Nomination Assemblies to select candidates for mayors and municipal councils.

The grassroots assemblies, convened by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and the Great Patriotic Pole, began at 2:00 p.m. in each community. During the assemblies, open and popular consultations were held, led by the community leader, in accordance with the candidate selection regulations approved by the plenary session of the PSUV congress.

In Caracas, a grassroots assembly was held at the Primero de Mayo School in the Santa Rosalía parish. Emily Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Vencedores de Ayacucho Communal Council, stated that the community was called upon to hold the assembly: «We are working from the grassroots to nominate our candidates for July 27th, fulfilling the legacy of our Commander Hugo Chávez. Once again, the government is giving the people the leading role; We must elect those who will govern us.»
