«Venezuela goes towards a new stage and a new dawn with the Russia relationship,» thus was expressed by the Chancellor of the Republic Yván Gil from the Eurasian nation, referring to the comprehensive and broad agreement signed by the leaders of both nations.
Gil emphasized that today is a historic day, with the signing of the cooperation treaty by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro: «It is the first time that a Latin American country has signed a treaty of this caliber and scope that covers all areas of cooperation.»
He also highlighted that 18 joint commissions have been held between the two countries, where more than 300 agreements have been signed.
«This experience of cooperation is captured in a strategy document that addresses the political and multilateral arena, from the actions of both governments based on the principles of defending sovereignty, the United Nations, and aspects in the areas of energy, the economy, finance, health, science, technology, agriculture, and the fight against drug trafficking, organized crime, and terrorism.»
The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs emphasized that Venezuela held two meetings in which all these areas were addressed and in which the cooperation between both countries was also detailed, as part of the High-Level Intergovernmental Commission: «It is a fruitful visit that opens a new stage, new paths, a new page in the relations between Russia and Venezuela.»
«The concept of a pluricentric and multipolar world was developed by Commander Hugo Chávez, who found in Putin’s thinking and doctrine a space to work together in all spheres of cooperation,» he stated.
