Venezuela demands immediate release of Maikelys Espinoza

In the 78th edition of the “Con Maduro+” program, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, addressed the recent decision by the Social Chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) to order a preventive measure for the safe return of Maikelys Espinosa, kidnapped in the United States.

He emphasized that last Friday, the TSJ issued ruling number 129, corresponding to file 25-196, which ordered the immediate return of the child to the nation and also declared parental rights to the child’s mother, Yorely Bernal.

Protection of the child’s rights:

The President emphasized the importance of the decision by the Supreme Court: “We should ask, with the Supreme Court’s decision, who has parental rights over that girl. Can the United States immigration authority arbitrarily strip a mother of her parental rights? Is there no law in the United States?” questioned President Maduro.

The head of state emphasized that the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) ratified the legitimacy of Maikelys’s biological mother, Yorely Escarleth Bernal Inciarte, who resides in Venezuela: “The Supreme Court has confirmed this in full force and effect, and the United States government has only one option: To recognize the mother’s right to have her legitimate daughter and return her,” he stated.

Call for International Justice:

President Maduro expressed his desire for justice in this case: “I hope that a fair judge in the United States will recognize the law and return the girl. Venezuela is prepared to go and look for Maikelys wherever she may be,» he urged.

The Dignitary also called for the creation of a social movement in support of human rights through this case: «We must maintain a strong movement around the world and in the United States.»

There are powerful social movements in defense of human rights, including those of American mothers and grandmothers, in the face of abuses of authority that violate the rights of a 2-year-old girl,” he stated.

Violation of Rights:

In his speech, the head of state criticized the persecution of Venezuelan citizens in the United States, associating this situation with acts promoted by the extreme right wing:

This stems from the actions of figures such as María Corina Machado, who applauds these persecutions in the workplace, affecting thousands of Venezuelans who have sought the American dream,” he concluded.

With this statement, the President reaffirms Venezuela’s commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent and ensures the protection of Maikelys Espinoza’s best interests, as well as her family reunification.
