President Maduro commemorated 23rd Anniversary of the attempted Coup d’état against Hugo Chávez

This Friday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated through his official Telegram channel the 23rd anniversary of the attempted coup d’état against Hugo Chávez, an event that marked a milestone in Venezuelan and Latin American history:

«23 years! Since the day we faced fascism, the coup d’état against Commander Chávez, orchestrated by imperialism and the oligarchy,» expressed the president.

In his message, he emphasized how at that time Venezuela was a different people, still innocent, beginning to develop new values and a new awareness on the People’s Power.

The head of state recalled the words of Commander Chávez, who warned the right-wing coup plotters: “Do not underestimate the people, nor the military.” Despite the kidnapping and threats against his life, Chávez was supported by a popular counter-coup that reaffirmed the will of the Venezuelan people.

What a great lesson! April of history, of heroism, and of a permanent memory of this spring that Venezuela has lived and continues to live, full of brilliant, beautiful, and gigantic ideas,” concluded the President.

This anniversary highlights the importance of popular resistance and the commitment of the Venezuelan people to the revolutionary principles that have guided their struggle throughout the years.
