During the broadcast of his «Maduro Live de Repente” (Maduro Suddenly Live) program, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, announced that the names of the candidates who will participate in the elections for the National Assembly (AN) for the 2026-2031 term will be announced in the coming days.
Along these lines, the head of state stated that the AN is there to guarantee legal, legislative, institutional, and political stability and strengthen the rights of the Venezuelan people.
He stated: «This new AN looks good (…) the opposition wants the electoral path and will participate. We are going to see new faces and voices from the opposition who want to commit to the electoral and democratic path.»
The National President also highlighted the fundamental role played by the National Assembly in ensuring the country’s stability and peace, noting that «the National Assembly is the epicenter of political debate and the sounding board for national debate,» because it also responds to the rights of the people, the permanence of democracy, and peace.
Regarding the Legislative Branch, The First Combatant Lady Cilia Flores stated that «it has always risen to the occasion and worked alongside the people to uphold the laws of the People’s Power, because that is the path to democracy.»
