During his «Con Maduro Live de Repente” (With Maduro Suddenly Live) program, President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the importance of the new generation of leaders that has emerged in the Bolivarian Revolution, who have been trained and given the opportunity to lead.
The head of state emphasized that this team has been carefully forged over the years and reiterated: «We have tremendous leadership in every state, every municipality, every parish, every community.»
In this regard, he emphasized his role in the candidate selection process: «I can tell you, because I was personally in charge of this entire process of nomination, evaluation, selection, decision, announcement, and nomination.»
In the opposition, it’s always the same people:
In contrast to the Bolivarian Revolution, the head of state indicated that the opposition is always made up of the same candidates and doesn’t give new leaders a chance:
«(…) you see the right wing, it’s always the same people,» he emphasized, referring to figures such as María Corina Machado, Henrique Capriles Radonski, Manuel Rosales, and others, who are recurring in electoral contests.
«It’s always the same: So there has to be a candidate for councilor, then María Machado, Julio Borges, Manuel Rosales, and Capriles appear more frequently; when there are elections for Mayors, they run; for Governor, they run; for Congressman, or president, they run,» he explained.
President Maduro also recalled his experience in 1998 during the electoral process and how the situation has evolved to this day:
«I was on the electoral team of the commission for the candidacies for governor, congressman, mayor, and constituent assembly,» he recounted.
The President emphasized that in the beginning, it was difficult to find leaders committed to the Bolivarian Revolutionary Project: «It was difficult because we didn’t have enough leaders, enough people, who were prepared to govern.»
However, he expressed his satisfaction with the present: «Now it was difficult, (but) because we had many leaders, men and women, on the front lines, and it’s a great commitment.»
