This Tuesday, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, inaugurated the House for Grandfathers and Grandmothers in Caracas, as part of the efforts aimed at strengthening the integral care for older adults.
This initiative is carried out jointly with the Great Mission of Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland, which is based on four fundamental pillars: the first, focused on Health and Nutrition; the second, focused on Integral Social Protection; the third, related to the My Grandfather and Grandmother of the Homeland Movement; and the fourth, dedicated to the construction of the Houses for Grandfathers and Grandmothers.
The Great Mission was created on March 25, 2024, with the goal of improving the quality of life of older adults through a comprehensive social protection system based on a transformative agenda aimed at building high-impact strategies.
With the opening of these spaces, areas will be activated where older adults feel valued and cared for at this stage of their lives, such as arts and crafts, recreation, integral well-being, and administrative management and trades; this is part of strengthening the Fourth Transformation that ensures Supreme Social Happiness.
This Grandparents’ House has several access routes, such as:
– Bolívar Avenue, which connects with the Plaza de La Juventud (Youth Square).
– Two secondary side entrances and one through the Urban Agriculture Center.
This facility will serve 200 seniors per day, in a collaborative effort between the Popular and Communal Government System to empower the nation’s seniors.
