Relatives of Venezuelans kidnapped met with President Maduro

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a meeting this Thursday, March 20, 2025, with the relatives of the Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador.

Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly, reported that they heard the testimonies of the mothers, fathers, and relatives of those who «will be rescued with the force of truth, by the force of God, and by the force of the people of Venezuela.»

Yetzy Arteaga, mother of a kidnapped young man, stated that she went to the Miraflores Palace to denounce the atrocity being committed against our innocent sons: «We need the help of you all; We need our children back.»

Oswaldo Moreno, the father of another kidnapped young man, expressed that an injustice is being committed just for the fact of them being Venezuelans: “Our children have not committed a crime; let us defend our nationality.”

Jorge Rodríguez reiterated that 240 young workers, who have not committed crimes in Venezuela, nor in the United States or El Salvador, are being held hostage by Bukele and subjected to slave labor in high-risk prisons.

The Venezuelan government is doing everything necessary to rescue the kidnapped youth: “We have hired the best lawyers in El Salvador and the United States to represent the government and to defend our migrants, because the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child, and all the conventions on migration are being violated,” said Rodríguez.

Venezuela is also ready to resume flights under the Vuelta a la Patria (Return to the Homeland) Plan, which are being blocked by the United States Department of State.
