During the march led by the Venezuelan people, which took a strong stand against the kidnapping and abusive treatment of Venezuelan migrants by the governments of the United States and El Salvador, the Head of State and Government, Nicolás Maduro, expressed his firm commitment in a telephone call to continue making the necessary efforts to secure the return of these Venezuelans:
«You know that we are going to do, with the favor of God Almighty and the support of everyone, whatever it takes to rescue our young people, who are not criminals, they are innocent,» he emphasized.
President Maduro highlighted the magnitude of Tuesday’s mobilization, calling it a «gigantic demonstration of dignity and purity.» «We are one people,» he added, highlighting the solidarity that unites Venezuelans at this time.
The Venezuelan dignitary also addressed the legal status of migrants, stating: «What has been done is the application of the ‘Alien Enemies Act’ of 1798 to declare migrants as enemies of the United States.»
From the Dialogue Commission:
In this regard, he affirmed that the head of the Dialogue Commission and president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, will make every effort, «every effort, to ensure that these young men are soon with their families.»
In his message, the Head of State emphasized the people’s outrage:
«The people are in the streets expressing their outrage, their truth, expressing their solidarity with these migrants.»
He also reiterated his focus on establishing the appropriate dialogues and «that the government hand over these young men, who have not committed any crimes in the United States or El Salvador.»
The President condemned the violations of due process and human rights, and stated: «They are condemning them; this violates international law and human rights. The world must raise its voice and say, ‘Enough!'»
Finally, he called for unity among the Venezuelan people:
«The Venezuelan people, as a single voice, without differences. To support until, with God’s favor, we can bring our migrants home. All my love, all my commitment, and all my support to you,» he expressed.
For his part, Rodríguez announced that signatures will be collected in all of the country’s Bolívar squares so that the Venezuelan people can «express their outrage to the entire world over the kidnapping of our sisters and brothers.»
In this regard, he stated: «Whoever we need to talk to, we will talk to, and wherever we need to send planes, we will send them.»
During his remarks, he reaffirmed his commitment to the people and families affected by these measures: «For our sons and daughters and for the lives of our parents, we will not rest until each and every one of those kidnapped in El Salvador and all the migrants in the United States of America return to their homeland, to their land, to their native land. We say, come back to your homeland, we want you here.»
