«Now, after they beat them, harass them, humiliate them and cut their hair, (then) he comes and says they may have made a mistake. That there may be some who aren’t part of the Tren de Aragua, and he orders Bukele to send them to Venezuela,» stated Jorge Rodríguez, designated for the Peace Talks by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, following statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday, March 17.
During his participation in the «Con Maduro +» presidential program, Rodríguez emphasized that Rubio admitted that «it’s possible» that not all of the Venezuelans sent to El Salvador for allegedly being members of the Tren de Aragua are part of this criminal group, now extinct in Venezuela: «First, he said they were all terrorists, murderers, rapists; thus violating their dignity, their pride, their honor, their status as good men and women.»
The president of the National Assembly also affirmed that Rubio admits, with his statements, his error on that «there may be innocent Venezuelans» among the 238 Venezuelans illegally sent, without due process or the right to defense, to the maximum-security prison for terrorists built by Bukele in his country: «Now there are in El Salvador people who have never committed any type of crime in their lives.»
Faced with this situation, Rodríguez pointed out that there is an extreme evidentiary contradiction «of such a catastrophic level of barbarity that it even makes us think that some lie must be being fed to President Trump.»
In statements to a media outlet, Rubio commented: «Now, assuming, let’s suppose, and I’m not saying this is the case, because I think there is a high level of fidelity and confidence that, in fact, that is exactly what each of them was, but if one of them turns out not to be, then they are simply in our country illegally and the Salvadorans can deport them to Venezuela,» apologizing for the vile act carried out by his government with the kidnapping of 238 Venezuelans.
