President Nicolás Maduro held a virtual meeting with the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, who offered a summary of their bilateral agenda from the People’s Republic of China, through her podcast “Con Maduro Live de Repente” (Suddenly With Maduro LIVE).
During this video conference, Rodríguez highlighted the robust strategic partnership between Venezuela and China, stating: «Our partnership with the People’s Republic of China is all-weather and all-proof!» This emphasis reflects the consolidation of ties between both nations, which is crucial in the current context.
In the same session, Vice President Rodríguez reported on her meeting with the president of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, Zheng Shanjie. In this meeting, both leaders ratified their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and signed a new agreement to promote cooperation in key areas, focusing on the financial and energy sectors.
She explained that she later met with her Chinese counterpart, Vice President Han Zheng, at the Great Hall of the People. This dialogue focused on the implementation of the work route agreed upon during President Nicolás Maduro’s official visit to China in 2023. Relevant topics were addressed, such as strengthening energy and financial cooperation, with the aim of facing common challenges and developing joint projects that benefit both nations:
«We continue to advance in multiple strategic areas,» she stressed, mentioning the importance of maintaining a dynamic exchange with senior Chinese authorities. This collaboration is not only essential to enhance Venezuela’s role in international geopolitics, but also to strengthen its position within the BRICS.
Likewise, the relevance of consultations with companies in the energy, oil and electricity sectors was highlighted, which will provide the opportunity to explore new investments and promote mutual cooperation between Venezuela and China.
Finally, Vice President Rodríguez, in her capacity as President of the China-Venezuela High-Level Joint Commission, reiterated that these visits are a fundamental pillar to strengthen economic and friendship ties between both nations, a commitment that promises to expand in the future.
Through these meetings, Venezuela and China continue to consolidate their strategic relationship, in a joint effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation and defend the interests of the Global South.
