As you say: working to save lives. And that makes one excited and happy, because when one is a child, our dreams are that we wanted to be firefighters to serve people,” he said.
During the official ceremony, the authorities recalled that, in 23 years of daily work, both in Venezuela and in other countries, the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force, with more than 60 missions and more than 5,223 officials, is at the service of the Venezuelan people in more than 85 locations throughout the country.
In 1999, as a result of the denominated Vargas Tragedy, (which, as a product of heavy and long-lasting rainfalls became in the tragic loss of lives and) landslides caused by the climate crisis 25 years ago, Commander Chávez promoted the change of what was called Civil Defense to the current Civil Protection, to expand and reinforce attention to the Venezuelan people.
Cabello indicated that it was part of Chavez’s Enabling Laws, which allowed the Republic to be refounded, with humanist, revolutionary and socialist criteria.
In addition, he especially highlighted the creation of the National Experimental University of Security (UNES), where Venezuela became one of the flagship countries that trains its Civil Protection, firefighters, police, rescue and prevention personnel.
«Whereas Commander Chavez thought of that and President Maduro continues it, with Civil Protection and the UNES; in capitalism that has no place,» he compared.
