The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela supports the proposal of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who proposed, amidst the Summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) which is taking place in Rio de Janeiro, a Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty:
“I told (Venezuelan) Chancellor Yván Gil, to call the Brazilian Chancellor and tell him that Venezuela agrees with the president’s proposal. And we are prepared, modestly, with our experience of the CLAP, of the School Feeding Program (PAE), of the food programs created by Commander Chávez, to join the great alliance against hunger and poverty, convened by President Lula Da Silva, «said the Venezuelan head of state.
«We are ready, and I congratulate you!» exclaimed President Maduro, pointing out that after this statement «there is a breath of fresh air coming from Rio de Janeiro, with the words about the world geopolitical situation, and I agree with every word in the inaugural speech.»
He shared these words after being asked about the global alliance that the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil has called for against hunger, during the G20 Summit that takes place in Rio de Janeiro.
For this reason, the national President valued the words of his Brazilian colleague and his speech on the occasion of «this historic meeting.»
He described Lula Da Silva’s words as «a historic piece,» for having made «an extraordinary assessment of the world of sixteen years ago.» The Venezuelan head of state paused in his analysis, commenting on the questioning of the Brazilian president: «How can there be more hunger, more poverty? How much is spent on war? How can there be more wars and threats?» said Lula at the G20.
In that scenario –the Venezuelan head of state said– he (Lula) said, the great alliance that must be made now is not for war, it is the World Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.
