President Maduro received Paris 2024 Paralympic and Olympic champions in Miraflores

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received in the Simón Bolívar Hall of Miraflores Palace the athletes who participated with great success in the last Olympic Games 2024, staged in Paris, France.

The National President expressed his satisfaction and pride in our athletes, who managed to achieve gold, silver and bronze in the Paralympic and Olympic games, in addition to 7 recognition diplomas:

It is a beauty to see the arrival of our champions who come full of victories and close the Paris 2024 Olympic stage, to open the upcoming 2028 games in the city of Los Angeles. I think I will see them all participating successfully in these games. I want to congratulate the gold medalists, congratulate all those who participated and managed to win medals and diplomas with great effort. I am full of optimism for future sporting events, where our efforts will surely be intensified with greater discipline. These achievements comfort the soul, and fill us with optimism that we feel for Venezuela, to return victorious to you from Paris, it is simply a great feeling and we say thank you to life for giving us so much.”

At the reception ceremony for the athletes, the President recognized the fencing work achieved by champion Rubén Limardo in the London 2012 Olympic Games, also greeting Francisco Jesús, Rubén and Gabriel Lugo, who achieved a second Olympic diploma together with Anyelin Venegas in weightlifting.

President Maduro recognized and awarded the Order of Libertadores and Libertadoras to the Paralympic athletes, who won three gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal, plus twelve Paralympic diplomas for standing out in Paris 2024.

Likewise, President Nicolás Maduro awarded decorations, among them, to Endersón Santos, for winning gold in 400-meter athletics, with visual impairment, to Clara Fuentes, gold medal in weightlifting on her third attempt, Naibis Morillo in javelin throw, and Paralympic record, winning a gold medal, to Lisbelkis Vega, winning a silver medal in the 400-meter dash, Alejandra Perez, winning in 200 meters in athletics, winning a silver medal and Marcos Blanco, winning a bronze medal in judo in the 60 kilograms category.

The athletes thanked President Maduro for the warm welcome and said they were committed to continuing to achieve success for Venezuela in the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
