The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled this Monday that during the next year 2025 will be held the elections to choose state governors, mayors, councilors and regional deputies; which he described as “mega-elections.” These statements were offered in the middle of the 11th Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA-TCP):
“The mega-elections of 23 governors, 335 mayors, 23 Legislative Councils and 335 Municipal Councils are coming up. In 12 months we will be in elections again,” said President Maduro, who also said in reference to the radical Venezuelan opposition that “those who do not acknowledge the powers of the State will not be able to participate in any electoral process. To the wise, only a few words are needed.”
Additionally, he announced that the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) is preparing its electoral machinery for this electoral event: “We are re-engineering the machinery, the 1x10x7, to see what the method will be like, who the candidates will be,” he explained.
He indicated that, in Venezuela, a dignified and true democracy is being consolidated, with new formulas arising from the guidelines of the Bolivarian Government. Finally, regarding the Second Popular Consultation held last Sunday, he said that, “this milestone is the dream of direct democracy, which is expressed in the Constitution.”
