In a press conference, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, asserted that the country is experiencing an attempted media coup by the Venezuelan far-right wing sector, but that there is also an attempt to establish a parallel CNE to expose false results to the world community and impose an illegitimate government.
This assertion made by prosecutor Tarek William Saab is supported by the statements made by President Nicolás Maduro and other powers of the Venezuelan State. It is also a faithful reflection of the events that have occurred at other times when the national right has tried to break the constitutional order.
In this context, regarding the acts of violence focused on several cities in the country, the prosecutor highlighted the work of the State security bodies: “Look at how Venezuela is today. The isolated outbreaks that we could see are completely calmed down. This deserves recognition and applause for the security forces. There will not be the inaction that occurred in 2017 with the previous head (of the Public Ministry).”
Regarding the issue of violent outbreaks, he reported that the majority of those arrested during the violent demonstrations of the last few days did not exercise their right to vote last Sunday, which draws attention to the reasons that led them to carry out the “guarimbas” (riots) actions.
