President Maduro creates rank of General of the Sovereign People for FANB officers

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced the creation of the rank of General of the Sovereign People as the highest hierarchy that an officer of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) can achieve.

During the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in Commemoration of the 203rd Anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo and Bolivarian Army Day, the President explained that this new rank was designed in honor of the hero Ezequiel Zamora, who gave his life for defending the Venezuelan people:

Only an officer who fully complies with the ethics, morals, dignity and doctrine of Bolívar and Zamora can reach this level,” he said.

Likewise, the Commander in Chief of the FANB assured that no government will arrive in the country to privatize the military institution and bring back American soldiers to lead the FANB and impose its doctrines.
