“Where were the sanctions imposed? «In our main source of income to stop and end the true welfare state that Commander Hugo Chávez and President Maduro achieved for the first time in 200 years.»
This is how the president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Capital DIstrict), expressed himself during the ordinary session this Thursday, in which the Bill for the Protection of Pensions of Social Security was approved in the first discussion against the Imperialist Blockade.
The parliamentarian wondered why the United States never imposed sanctions on the governments of the Fourth Republic: “…Because those governments dragged before the Americans, who imposed that only 1% of grandmothers could have pensions,
and the population was subjected to ignominy… almost to non-existence,” he responded.
He stressed that those who enjoy the effects of the sanctions are those who made a business out of them: “…They have enriched themselves with millions and millions of dollars on account of these sanctions. That is the truth,” stressed the deputy.
In this regard, he pointed out that if the US government has a candidate in Venezuela, “then that candidate is responsible for the sanctions they imposed in this country,” he stated.
The parliamentarian added another question: «Aren’t there going to be sanctions for a gringo candidate? Of course not, because he is going to impose them directly by order of the gringos, as happened in the governments of the Fourth Republic,» said Rodríguez. .
Finally, he pointed out that there has not been a more serious and severe sanction for this people than those forty years of disaster of the Guanabana (soursop) (*) government
(*) It is commonly referred to as the “Guanabana” (soursop) government to the period in history where the Venezuelan Government was alternately held exclusively between the Accion Democratica and COPEI political parties, whose colors are white and green, respectively, thus resembling the colors of a soursop.
