Head of State calls for Great National Consultation of Communal Councils and Communes

During the first meeting of the Volunteers for the transformation of the future and balance of the national popular consultation, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, called for the Great National Consultation of Communal Councils and Communes on Sunday, April 21 of the country in 4,500 communal circuits in the country.

The head of state’s request comes after the governor of Miranda state, Héctor Rodríguez, informed him that to date 4,500 communal circuits have been formed to consult in the 4,500 communes in seven projects chosen by the bases of the People’s Power without interference, and therefore expressed: “I want us to nationalize the project selection method.”

The spokesperson for the Sucre municipality, Elpidio Ibarra, said that what is experienced today in the Venezuelan communes is an example of the care that the Venezuelan people, together with the Bolivarian Government, have with respect to the legacy of Commander Chávez and described the communal construction as a triumph, as is the exercise of participatory democracy and communal oversight.

Likewise, the communal spokesperson proposed to the president that the people continue with the consultation to protect the legal framework of the national People’s Power: “We must return to the issue of communal parliaments, continue deepening the proposals of communal cities, it is to see ourselves in that logic of government,” he explained.

“Never before in the 200-year history of the Republic, never before had the opinion of the people been taken into account, as much as the people have been consulted, debated and made visible in these 25 years of the Bolivarian Revolution. We have broken the world record for consultations,” said the head of state.
