Venezuela’s agricultural potential is an area of international investment interest

Following the guidance of President Nicolás Maduro, this Wednesday the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo held a work meeting with the president of the International Center for Productive Investment of Venezuela, Alex Saab, and a group of investors from the People’s Republic of China in order to publicize the agricultural potential and business opportunities that Venezuela offers.

The head of the agricultural office explained to the group of investors the benefits and capabilities of the Eastern Agri-Food Special Economic Zone (ZEE), which is exactly 5,453,704 hectares, distributed in five states of the country; with eastern Guárico, south of Anzoátegui, central-west of Monagas, south of Sucre and north of Bolívar states.

The lands will be focused on the production of soybeans, corn, sorghum, peanuts and cashews, as well as the development of cattle, goats, sheep and buffalo livestock; forestry, legumes, cotton and sunflower production.

The Eastern Agri-Food ZEE will be “near to be declared a Special Economic Zone by President Nicolás Maduro, and there is enormous expectation to carry out this project,” added Castro Soteldo.

For his part, from his X account @AlexNSaab indicated that “the use of land and investment in agriculture was the objective of today’s meeting. Good news, good projects. For the Venezuela world power.”

It should be noted that, during the presentation of the annual message to the nation from the National Assembly, President Maduro appointed Alex Saab as the new president of the International Center for Productive Investment in order to generate strategies aimed at promoting investments and foreign trade
