The information was released through a statement by the Chancellory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, where it warned that these actions aggravate the territorial controversy and add to the illegal conduct of granting oil exploitation rights to Exxon Mobil over a sea that is pending delimitation with Venezuela.

In that sense, part of the text highlighted that “Venezuela denounces before the International Community, and especially before the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the reckless attitude of Guyana, which threatens the Zone of Peace that has been outlined in this region”.

Following, the full text of the Communiqué:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemns the recent statements by president Irfaan Ali, who in an irresponsible manner has given the green light to the presence of he Southern Command of the United States within the territory of Guayana Esequiba, over which Guyana maintains a De Facto occupation and a territorial controversy with Venezuela, which is being called to be resolved through the Geneva Agreement of 1966, the only valid legal instrument between the parties.

Venezuela denounces to the international community, and specially to the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the reckless attitude by Guyana, who acting under the mandate of the transnational ExxonMobil Oil Company, is opening the possibility of an installation of military bases to an imperial power, thus threatening the Peace Zone that has been delimited in this region.

The Cooperative Republic of Guyana gives an onslaught, in a reckless manner, against the international law, by performing actions that aggravate the territorial controversy, and which join its illegal behavior of granting oil exploitation rights to the ExxonMobil Oil Company over a sea pending delimitation with Venezuela.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, faithful to its doctrine of a Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, exhorts the Government of Guyana to desist on its erratic, threatening and risky behavior, and to resume the path of a direct dialogue, through the Geneva Agreement.”
