President Maduro celebrates how “strong and clear” Venezuela spoke in the DEC-03 referendum

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that this Sunday the people “spoke loudly and clearly” about the first steps that the Venezuelan State will take after this day of the Consultative Referendum, where the rights over the Essequibo territory are claimed:

This victory belongs to the entire people of Venezuela, without discrimination and [political] partisanship to achieve the national unity necessary for many things,” said the head of state during the celebration of the participatory exercise in Plaza Bolívar (Bolívar Square) in Caracas.

He described this Sunday’s election day as wonderful, while recalling that last September 21 was the day the National Assembly (AN) “responded to the insolence of ExxonMobil and the government of Guyana, to divide up the Venezuelan territorial sea” and the Essequibo territory.

Likewise, he congratulated the authorities and workers of the National Electoral Council (CNE) for achieving a successful and smooth election day. “Their work was impeccable and they kept our people informed in a timely manner.”

The referendum was held, and it was a total success. It is an overwhelming victory of the yes vote throughout Venezuela, with a very important level of participation,” said the national leader.
