ALBA-TCP in solidarity with Venezuela against attacks of the world right wing

The Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA-TCP) on Wednesday rejected the destabilizing plans against the progressive Governments in Latin America, during the meeting held in Caracas.
In the final declaration, the ALBA-TCP got in solidarity with Venezuela before the attacks of the world’s imperial right wing, which look to end with the Government of President Nicolas Maduro through a foreign intervention.
The Minister of the Presidency of Bolivia, Juan Ramon Quintana, undertook to read the statement, on which they state that will remain on alert against the attacks against Venezuela and “will act accordingly in defense of peace in the region”.
The special statement on Venezuela requires firstly an absolute respect for the sovereignty, support for the constitutional Government of President Nicolas Maduro, in order to ensure democratic institutionality in his country, support to its initiative to dialogue with the opposition under the auspices of UNASUR, and the participation of the former Presidents Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero of Spain, Leonel Fernandez of the Dominican Republic, and Martin Torrijos of Panama.
It also rejects the behavior of the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, for taking an interventionist role in the internal affairs of Venezuela and motivating opposition factors to take violent positions.
In this sense, the Political Council of ALBA urges the countries represented at the OAS, to ensure that Almagro “is set in the performance of his duties, the General Rules of Operation of the General Secretariat, as provided by Article 113 of its Charter. ”
Finally, they repudiate the interventionist resolution of June 8, 2016 by the European Parliament against Venezuela and its lack of respect for institutions and the rule of law.
Following, read in detail the final declaration of ALBA-TCP:
5th Extraordinary Meeting of the Political Council of ALBA-TCP
(Caracas, June 8, 2016)
Special Statement in Support of the democratic institutions, dialogue and peace in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) on the occasion of the 5th Extraordinary Meeting of the Political Council of ALBA-TCP held in Caracas, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on June 8, 2016.
Considering the commitment of the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, with the unrestricted defense of peace and the democratic constitutional institutions of the Republic and its determination to guarantee the human rights of the Venezuelan people.
Reiterating the need to fully respect the inalienable right of every State to choose its political, economic, social and cultural system, as an essential condition to ensure peaceful coexistence among nations and to consolidate Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, as it was formally proclaimed at the Second CELAC Summit held in Havana, in January 2014;
Acknowledging dialogue as a conciliatory mean, and as legitimate and appropriate instrument for resolving the internal conflicts of the Member States.
Given the illegitimate attempt to apply the Democratic Charter against Venezuela, by the Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, in order to foster an intervention against the Constitutional Government of that country.
We manifest that:
1. We demand absolute respect for the sovereignty of Venezuela, emphasizing the principles of non-interference, self-determination and the right to exercise the constitutional, political, economic and social system that its people have given to themselves.
2. We support the Constitutional Government of President Nicolas Maduro Moros on its persistence to preserve peace and guarantee democratic institutionality in his country.
3. We support the initiative for a national dialogue proposed by President Nicolas Maduro, sponsored by UNASUR, and the participation of former Presidents Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero of Spain, Leonel Fernandez of the Dominican Republic, and Martin Torrijos of Panama, at the request of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
4. We reject the behavior of Mr. Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States, who acting against the OAS Charter, which demands him independence, impartiality and transparency, has taken an interventionist role in the internal affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, potentially creating instability on said country and motivating factors of the Venezuelan opposition to take anti-democratic and violent positions.
5. We urge the countries represented at the OAS, to ensure that the Secretary General of the Organization meets in the performance of his duties, the General Rules of Operation of the General Secretariat, as provided by Article 113 of its Charter, and therefore calls on the Secretary General to strictly comply with Article 137 of those rules.
6. We reject the interventionist resolution of June 8, 2016 by the European Parliament against Venezuela and its lack of respect for institutions and the rule of law.
7. We will remain on alert against any initiative that threatens the constitutional stability of the sisterly Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and will act accordingly in defense of peace and tranquility in our region.
8. We request the Executive Secretary of ALBA-TCP to ensure that the present Declaration be forwarded to the regional and subregional integration organizations and to circulate it as an official document.
