The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, requested to the Venezuelan citizenship to consolidate a victorious expansion cycle of the Bolivarian Revolution in the decade 2016-2026.
In a joint radio and television broadcast, he recalled the work initiated by the Liberator Simon Bolivar between 1816 and 1826 for the independence of peoples, which -in his opinion- should be taken as an inspiration to reinvigorate the socialist project.
