President Nicolás Maduro: There is an awakening of liberation in The Americas

Assuring that Latin America is experiencing the awakening of a second wave of liberation, marked by great ideas of union and hope, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, praised the rebellious spirit of the peoples of the world “who are finding their path, step by step”.

During the closing of the International Colloquium “Bolívar and San Martín: Bicentennial of the Interview of Guayaquil, 1822-2022”, held at the Theater of the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Army, in Fort Tiuna, the Head of State assured that America is marked by a historical rhythm that has its roots in the struggles that allowed the liberation from Spanish rule:

Yesterday we were a people in arms made into an army, and that people in arms managed to expel the 300-year domain of an empire that based its domination more on deception, on superstition, more on manipulation, more on ignorance, than on strength”, he said.

He assured that the Spanish domain tried to exterminate the original cultures and the identity of an entire continent: “These were 300 years (of them) sinking their claws and cutting off any possibility of liberation, and then came the peak moment of light and energy, strength and victory. A wonderful awakening that was spearheaded by our leaders,” he assured.

In this context, the Head of State urged educational institutions, at their different levels, to build the country’s historical awareness:

It is sad that we are failing to teach the living history of our continent, so let us think: What are we not doing? Or let’s think, What are we doing wrong? What do we still need to do? In order to bring all this motivational knowledge to boys, girls and young people”, he reflected.

In this regard, he pointed out that the popular spaces and social missions must take the content of all these colloquiums to the youth, boys and girls, “so that a new cycle of sowing historical awareness, historical values, of the independence rebellion of giants like Bolívar and San Martín”.

For this reason, he urged Venezuelans to review history “which always forces us to study the moments that marked the great ideas. You have to know the history, where we come from. Our destiny is union, it is freedom. Long live José de San Martín! Long live the great Liberator Simón Bolívar!”, he concluded.
