Venezuela and China celebrate 48 years of brotherhood and solidarity

In the context of the 48th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Caracas and Beijing, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, received this Tuesday at Miraflores Palace to the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Venezuela, Li Baorong, with whom he reviewed the main topics of interest for both nations.

The meeting was held in the bilateral commitment to strengthen strategies that lead to mutual benefit in favor of the peoples.

In this regard, the head of state pointed out that the People’s Republic of China is “the elder sister in which we have found the necessary support in difficult times, demonstrating that humanity of shared benefit is possible.”

“We celebrate the anniversary of diplomatic relations of peace and respect that we have with the People’s Republic of China,” he highlighted on his Twitter account, @NicolasMaduro.

Relations between China and Venezuela, which date back to 1974, were strengthened thanks to Presidents Hugo Chávez and Jiang Zemin, who founded the Venezuela-China High-Level Joint Commission in 2001 as a mechanism for political dialogue and bilateral cooperation, which has given rise to oil and energy agreements up to the aerospace level.

As a result of COVID-19, Venezuela has been the first country to receive Chinese assistance in Latin America, thanks to the immediate response both nations have developed strategies for pandemic prevention and control.
