In the most recent regional meeting of the Network of Public Health Laboratories (RSLP), the National Government, together with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), evaluates the integrated surveillance capabilities of communicable diseases in Venezuela.
In this regard, the president of the Rafael Rangel National Institute of Hygiene (INHRR), Nuramy Gutiérrez, explained the progress made in the containment of COVID-19 in the country; and in this context, she pointed out the need to reactivate expert meetings to strengthen epidemic control and surveillance measures.
For his part, the representative of PAHO and WHO in Venezuela, Cristian Morales, emphasized the importance of reactivating public health laboratories to deal with the possible variables of COVID-19, as well as the timely identification of any epidemiological outbreak that occurs in the territory.
The meeting was held at the INHRR headquarters and was attended by specialists from the eastern states of the country, including: Anzoátegui, Delta Amacuro, Bolívar, Sucre, Nueva Esparta and Monagas.
