The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, instructed this Thursday to appoint an inspector, who will have the task of controlling and supporting the communities to stop the hospital mafias.
During a work journey in Carabobo state with the health sector, the National President pointed out that this inspector should join the Community Councils, as part of the 1×10 plan of Good Governance:
“We are going to articulate the 1×10 of Good Governance, hospital by hospital. From the Council of Presidential Inspectors, from the body of inspectors, I want to appoint a secret inspector for each hospital in the country. One to be an internal inspector, to join the communal councils, around all the hospitals, to do comptrollership, to support so that the hospitals are reborn”, said the Venezuelan head of state.
In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, President Nicolás Maduro referred to the situation in several hospitals, where they ask patients and their families to purchase medical supplies on the external market, despite the fact that they have the products in stores, with the aim of selling them illegally:
“We have to go frontally against the mafias, they take, they ask patients to buy things outside, while they go to warehouses and resell the supplies outside”, added President Maduro.
For this reason, he announced that there are already people being prosecuted in the Prosecutor’s Office, for being part of the mafias:
«We have to build a public, free and quality system that is an example for the world,» he emphasized.
