Presidents Maduro and Putin strengthen bilateral and strategic cooperation between Venezuela and Russia

This Thursday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, with the aim of strengthening the existing bilateral and strategic cooperation ties between the two nations.

In a message published through his account on the Twitter social network @NicolasMaduro, the Venezuelan Head of State reported on the development of this telephone meeting with President Vladimir Putin:

I had an important telephone conversation with brother President Vladimir Putin. We exchanged on issues related to existing cooperation in various strategic areas at the highest level, a relationship that is strengthened by the unbreakable union of our peoples”, as he indicated in his message:

During the telephone conversation, both leaders discussed current issues in the framework of relations between the two countries, as well as the progress of joint projects under development.

In an official statement published by the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, it is stated that “the Heads of State of Venezuela and Russia took stock of the progress in multidimensional cooperation, highlighting the 12% bilateral increase in trade, as well as the launch of air connectivity between the cities of Caracas and Moscow, advances in economic, health and military issues, among others”.

The communiqué also highlights that President Vladimir Putin conveyed to President Nicolás Maduro his congratulations for the victory in the regional and municipal elections on November 21, 2021, making it extensive to the entire Venezuelan People.

Similarly, President Nicolás Maduro took advantage of this conversation to thank the Russian Government for its support in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, through the supply of vaccines and medicines that have served to guarantee the health of Venezuelans.

President Vladimir Putin expressed all his multidimensional backing and support in the defense of sovereignty and in pursuit of the development of Venezuela.

Finally, President Maduro expressed to his Russian counterpart his solidarity with his country and Venezuela’s rejection of the provocation and manipulation campaigns against Russia.

President Putin once again reiterated his invitation to President Nicolás Maduro to visit Russia, in order to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
