Maduro: Venezuela reached 67% of people vaccinated against Covid 19

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced this Sunday, October 31, that Venezuela reached the goal of 67% of people in age of being vaccinated against covid-19.

He explained that the 67% milestone was close to the original goal of 70% set for the end of October, and highlighted that it was achieved thanks to the effort made in the acquisition of vaccines, despite the blockade applied by the government of the United States against the Venezuelan people:

“Despite the imperial persecution, the sanctions and the blockade, we have reached 67% of people vaccinated”, he emphasized.

During the presentation of the weekly balance of the fight against Covid 19, the national president detailed that nine entities reached or exceeded 70% of their vaccinated population, led by Táchira state with 108% of the vaccinated population, followed by the Capital District, La Guaira, Miranda, Carabobo, Cojedes and Mérida states.

Begins vaccination of children over 2 years old:

The Head of State announced that this week will begin the vaccination journeys against covid-19 for children over 2 years old:In the next few days, the anti-covid vaccines for children older than 2 years will arrive in Venezuela”, and assured that Venezuela has the necessary vaccines to immunize more than 85% of the population.

He urged the Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado, to develop the necessary efforts to reach 95% of the population vaccinated by the end of the year.

To do this, he urged Venezuelans to go to the vaccination points and centers that will be available in this expansion stage, including shopping centers, pharmacies and special areas agreed upon thanks to the articulation with guilds and private enterprises.

Regarding this week’s balance, President Maduro that 6,572 new cases were registered, 1,867 cases less than those registered during the previous week, this means a reduction of 22%, with an average of 939 new cases and 1,231 patients recovered in this week, for a rate of 20 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 6 points below the previous week.

Despite the favorable figures registered this week, he recalled that the vaccine does not exempt from contagion, which is why “prevention measures, the correct use of a mask, hand washing and healthy distancing must be maintained.”
