Impasse overcome after Borrell’s statements: EU commits to comply with impartiality agreement signed with CNE

The impasse caused in recent days, as a result of the statements of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Joseph Borrell, was overcome.

The president of the CNE, Pedro Calzadilla spoke with the head of the Electoral Observation Mission of the European Union, Isabel Santos, and reaffirmed the commitment to follow the rules agreed by both parties for the deployment of the mission:

“Let nobody have any doubt that we will comply with our commitment to observe the electoral process with impartiality, objectivity, independence and non-interference, honoring the administrative agreement signed with the National Electoral Council of Venezuela and our code of conduct”, she wrote on her Twitter account. @isabel_mep.

On October 28, 2021, the day when will begin the campaign for the Regional and Municipal Elections of November 21 the European Union will deploy 46 observers throughout the country.
