Maduro: Venezuela has the doses to vaccinate 80% of Venezuelans

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported this Sunday that the country has all the doses to vaccinate 80% of the Venezuelan population.

In this sense, the national president specified that Venezuela has reached 53.5% of vaccinated, qualifying this milestone as an important goal, and reiterated the expectation of the authorities to cover 70% of the population by next October 31:

“This goal is important because the scientific institutes of the world, the World Health Organization, have indicated that the goal is to generate what is called herd immunity”, which could be achieved by reaching that goal of 70% vaccination.

While informing that in the month of November the vaccination of children from 3 years of age will begin, he reiterated his confidence in the advances of science and research to vaccinate the entire population, in all age ranges.

He announced that the goal for December 31 is for 95% of Venezuelans to be vaccinated, and affirmed that steps are being taken to start the reinforcement process against covid-19 as of January 2022.

“We are studying which is the best booster vaccine,” he said, commenting that they are evaluating the Russian Sputnik V, the American Johnson & Johnson or the Chinese vaccines as booster options.

Weekly balance:

President Nicolás Maduro added that this week a total of 9,147 new cases were confirmed, for a rate of 28 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, four points below the previous one.

He urged the entire population over 18 years of age to go to the vaccination center closest to their home, where they will be treated without needing a prior appointment so that the corresponding dose can be applied.
