President Maduro imposed Francisco de Miranda Order on Sub-23 baseball world champions

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed this Tuesday at Miraflores Palace the members of the Venezuelan team, World Baseball Champions Sub-23, on whom he imposed the Francisco de Miranda Order in its second class, in an acknowledgement of their historic contribution to the national sport.

In the Ayacucho Hall of Miraflores Palace, the head of state met with the athletes, arriving from Mexico, where the tournament took place this year:

“The athletes have forged a 2021 of glory,” emphasized the Head of State in his congratulatory message to young athletes.

In his words, he stressed that the triumph of the national team should reflect for the entire country the effort to re-promote Venezuelan baseball.

He recalled that “since 1941 we have not won such an important title, I feel admiration for the feat accomplished and to bring this triumph to all of Venezuela. This should represent an inspiration to give a boost to Venezuelan baseball. All their games were very exciting and they have been a team that knows how to represent Venezuelan baseball”, he said.

“Sports for children and young people is a tremendous quarry for the formation of the human being. I dream of an expansion of baseball schools and training centers”, added Maduro.

Creole ball will start with 40% capacity:

The national president announced that for the start of the 2021-2022 baseball season, a 40% capacity will be allowed in sports stadiums, maintaining strict biosafety measures, and announced that if the vaccination goal foreseen for this last quarter of the year is achieved, “we can allow by December a capacity of 60% in baseball stadiums”.

On behalf of the Sub-23 world champions, Carlos “El Almirante” García, manager of the team, thanked the athletes for the support they received from the Venezuelan government: “I want to thank all the support you gave us to be in the right place living emotional moments. The players behaved at the height of the moment, as did the coaching staff, united we can move the country forward”, he emphasized.

Venezuela will defend its championship in the next Sub-23 World Cup, which will take place in Taipei (China) in 2022.
